Best Dog Car Seat Editorial Team · Updated June 2026

This page explains how we research, what we will and will not publish, and how we keep commercial incentives out of our rankings. If we ever fall short of it, tell us.

Accuracy and sourcing

We aim to be right, and to be correctable. Safety claims are grounded in public, checkable sources: the Center for Pet Safety crash program, NHTSA and AAA guidance, OFA disease statistics, AKC breed standards and peer-reviewed veterinary literature. Breed and fit guidance is researched against those sources rather than asserted from memory. When a claim depends on a source, we link it so you can verify it yourself.

How rankings are built

Product positions come from a consistent, repeatable method, not opinion of the day. We weigh four signals: the depth and consistency of verified owner reviews, the average rating adjusted for how many reviews back it, the current price, and how well a product fits a stated dog size and vehicle type. Pricing and pick order refresh weekly from the Amazon catalog through the Creators API, so the data stays current between article rewrites.

What we do not do

  • We do not fabricate test results, owner stories, quotes or statistics.
  • We do not invent an individual "reviewer" or veterinarian persona. Our work is published by the editorial team and presented as research, not as a staged hands-on lab test.
  • We do not call a product "crash tested" unless its maker has passed an independent program such as the Center for Pet Safety.
  • We do not let commission rates, sponsorships or brand relationships influence a ranking.

Commercial independence

The site is funded by Amazon affiliate commissions, disclosed in full on our affiliate disclosure page. Editorial decisions are kept separate from that revenue. No brand can buy a position, a rating or a review.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and, where the error was material, note that a correction was made. If you spot an inaccuracy, an out-of-date price or a safety claim that needs better sourcing, please reach us through the contact page. Reader corrections are one of our most valuable inputs.

Updates

Guides carry a visible "updated" date. We revisit our most important rankings and safety guides regularly so the advice keeps pace with new products, new pricing and new evidence.
